The Solar Panel Installation Process for Homes or Businesses
So you think that you want solar panels for your home? Here are the steps you are going to have to take to get it there.
1. System design and planning: The first thing that you have to do is find out what type of solar panels you are going to install and how many of them you need to get the electricity you want. For a little bit of help with this part check out our page on how many solar panels you might need and what types of solar panels are available.
2. Finding an installer: Finding a good installer really is key to making the whole process go smoothly. Calling up is your best option. As a general rule if they sound like they don’t know what they are talking about or couldn’t be bothered answering your questions then it would be a good idea to keep looking as an arrogant and ignorant installer is not what you want.
3. The actual installation: The actual installation can be split up into two basic steps; the physical bolting of your panels to the roof and the wiring up of the system. If you want to save a bit of money then you could offer to help with the mounting of then panels as it is a two man job only the installer has to know what he is doing. The other guy is usually there to help lift the panels and hold it in place while it is bolted down. The installer may decline but it’s worth a shot. As for the wiring up, unless you’re a qualified sparky I suggest leaving it to the experts as you don’t want a faulty installation being the reason for your house burning down.
4. Sit back and watch the money roll in: Well you will only get paid if you produce more than you use but you understand what we mean.
So that’s the installation process done. Just clean your solar panels every so often and you’ll laughing all the way to the bank for years to come.
